This eight-day journey takes you across Timor-Leste’s coast, highlands and island landscapes, combining history, local culture, mountain scenery and some of the country’s richest marine environments.
Beginning in Dili, you’ll explore the capital’s waterfront, colonial landmarks and local markets before travelling west to Balibo. Here, the country’s recent history is experienced through the fort, museum and community surrounding it.
The journey then crosses the island towards Baucau and Venilale, with stops at coastal towns, coffee-growing areas, caves, waterfalls and open highland landscapes. A day trip through Aileu and Maubisse introduces you to Timorese coffee, sacred houses and mountain communities before the journey turns towards the sea.
The final chapter is spent on Atauro Island. Travellers may choose a package with three guided fun dives or a non-diving full-board stay at Compass Dive Resort. With private transport, an English-speaking guide and thoughtfully selected accommodation, the itinerary offers an immersive introduction to a country still rarely experienced in depth.
